Escape to a beachy oasis for 5 days of Surfing Adventure, YOGA Connection and Magic by The Sea.
Santa Teresa, a string of beach-backed hamlets on the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula, has an edge of the world that still feels remote and inspires dreams of relocation. Surf’s always up in Santa Teresa, with consistent off-shore winds that attracts surfers from all over the globe. With its pristine beaches, delicious seafood and cheery vibe, this town is everything you could dream off!
The best time for surfing in Santa Teresa is during the low currents because the waves are much faster at this time. The variety of surf breaks and the high swells attract the best surfers in the business. Suck Rock, La Lora, Playa Hermosa and Playa Carmen are popular surfing spots in and around Santa Teresa.
Our surf camp will give a solid ground for anyone who wants to learn to surf or become a better surfer. It does not matter if you are a complete beginner or an experienced surfer, all levels are welcome. We will teach you everything you need to know. Our surf camp includes two surf lessons per day and lessons will be adapted according to the student’s experience.
*BEGINNER SURF LESSONS: On the first class you will learn the basics of surfing, starting from zero (no experience needed.) You will learn about safety and ocean knowledge, surfing etiquette, positioning on the board, how to paddle, how to stand up properly, and how to ride a wave. After a couple of lessons you are usually ready to move to the intermediate class.
*INTERMEDIATE SURF LESSONS:Here we focus on: timing (how to start paddling for a wave and when to stand up), positioning on the board (normally you try different board sizes according to your progress), paddling techniques, turning, getting in to the line-up, and surfing etiquette.
*ADVANCED SURF LESSONS:The advanced lessons are about improving weaknesses and learning new skills. We will analyze your surfing technique, show you what you are doing wrong, and teach you how to fix it. The aim is to improve your surfing and also work on things you wish to get better at. Just bring a towel and some sunscreen. We’ll supply water and lots of waves.
Costa Rica is known for two seasons. The dry season is from December – April. The green season is from May – November. During the green season we will sometimes have an afternoon shower that normally passes pretty quickly. During both seasons the average temperature is around 90 so the water stays nice and warm.
Costa Rica offers some of the best surf in Central America. Playa Hermosa is one of the most consistent spots with at least chest to head high waves 3 to 4 times a week with some of the best surf spots just a short ride away. Waves can reach 12 - 15ft on big swells.
No need for a wetsuit, but a rash gaurd is recommended for chaffing & UV rays.
